Prepping skin for sleep

Prepping skin for sleep

Using facial oil is a great way to nourish skin naturally. Select one that is blended with essential oils, which can promote tranquility in addition to improving overall skin health. The sense of smell is directly linked to the brain’s centers for memory and emotion. Including a soothing scent in your evening ritual can actually help you build calm into your routine. Our favorites for reducing anxiety are rose otto, jasmine and geranium (found in our Phenom blend). Sandalwood and citrus also promote relaxation and sleep (found in our Bravura oil). Lavender is another good choice. Not everyone reacts the same way to these scents (citrus can be energizing for some) so do a little experimenting to find out what calms you.

After cleansing and spraying your face with a soothing toner (we like rose water or sandalwood hydrosol) gently pat the oil onto your face and neck. A little goes a long way and it stays on the skin longer than creme, giving you the opportunity for massage. We love using our gua sha (snow quartz facial massage tool) each evening. Learn more tips and tricks on our IGTV. This tool precedes acupuncture and has been used for thousands of years to increase circulation and move stagnant energy. Used daily, gua sha can remove fine lines, sculpt, tone and brighten the complexion, along with feeling absolutely amazing. Any natural stone or stainless steel gua sha will work. If you don’t have one, learn using just your hand.

The third eye acupressure point is wonderful to end with. We ingest a dropperful of our CBD ingestible elixir right before bed to help stay asleep through the night (pick an organic brand since hemp is a bioaccumulator). It’s a higher concentration of CBD than our facial oils and can also be used to spot treat breakouts or rashes. I use it as an overnight scalp treatment when I have the time and need. Wishing you all the best, sweet dreams!
